Treatment from non-Muslim doctors

Qn17: I live in America and my husband is suffering from a pain in his back and I even suspect he may be diabetic. He refuses to get treatment as he fears the non-Muslim doctors may not treat him in the best interest. He claims that we should just leave his state in the Hands of Allaah ‘Azza wa Jal. What is your opinion?

Ans.17: As far as I know, there are Muslim doctors in the West and seeking treatment isn’t limited to the non-Muslims only rather, a person can also go and seek treatment from a Muslim doctor. Secondly, there are numerous non-Muslim doctors who practise their jobs properly because they see their job as a means of income and they have a loyalty towards their work and you will find that they are good regarding this. And the third point is that you should try to find a Muslim doctor and advise your husband to visit him and this should suffice. You shouldn’t resent him for it as this matter refers back to him and it is in his own interest if he goes to the doctor and Allaah Knows Best.
