Registering Muslim children in non-Muslim school
Qn16: We live in England in a city which has no Muslim schools. We intend to make hijrah but this won’t be possible for another year so. Is it permissible for us to send our eleven year-old son to a non-Muslim school until we make Hijrah (emigrate to a Muslim land) as we fear he will fall behind in his education and it is not possible for us to homeschool him properly?
Ans.16: Oh my daughter, I advise you to make hijrah and if not to the land of the Muslims, then to the city where the Salafi Publications brothers are in England. I understand that this shouldn’t be too difficult. If this is not possible, then you should check the non-Muslim schools of your area and find one which teaches the general subjects such as Maths and Sciences. There is no problem sending your son to these schools as long as you follow what he is learning there as well carrying out the Islamic studies and the teaching of the Shari’ah at home or in the trusted mosques where you live.
